Abstract The present study aimed to examine the validity, reliability and factor structure of the Profile of Emotional Competence (PEC) among Iranian students. To this end 518 high school female students were selected in 2019 academic year using cluster sampling method and they completed the profile of emotional competence (Brasseur, Grégoire, Bourdu, & Mikolajczak, 2013), cultural competence Questionnaire (Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society, 2007), and satisfaction with life scale (Diener, Emmons, Larsen, & Griffin, 1985). To investigate validity, confirmatory factor analysis and convergent validity were used. The findings of confirmatory factor analysis confirmed two-factor structure of the questionnaire and yielded two factors named as intra emotional competence and inter emotional competence. The correlation coefficients of the questionnaire scores with life satisfaction and cultural competence were 0.30 and 0.90 respectively. These results showed the convergent validity of the scale. To assess the reliability the questionnaire, Cronbach’s alpha was used. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was in satisfactory level for each factor (α = 0.80 for intra emotional competence, and α = 0.78 for inter emotional competence), and the total score of the scale (α = 0.92). The findings suggest that the profile of emotional competence is a reliable and valid instrument for assessing emotional competence of Iranian high school students and can be used as a suitable instrument in psychological research. The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating role of achievement motivation in the relationship between emotional creativity and self-directed learning. The present study was a correlation study using structural equation modeling. The statistical population of the present study included all eleventh grade male students in Khoy city numbering 5300 people. From the population a sample of 370 people were selected using the Slovin formula by stage cluster sampling and completed Emotional Creativity Inventory (ECI), Achievement Motivation Questionnaire (AMQ) and Self-Rating Scale of Self-Directed Learning (SDL). Data were analyzed by SPSS24 and AMOS22. The results of this study showed that emotional creativity was able to explain 29% of the variance of achievement motivation, and the variables of emotional creativity and achievement motivation can simultaneously explain 43% of the self-directed learning variance. Also, the achievement motivation has a significant mediator role in the relationship between emotional creativity and self-directed learning (p<0.01). Hence, expressing positive emotions in the form of an achievement motivation, it makes people see new links between ideas, organizes information and creates new solutions to the problem. Therefore, the creativity of this kind of emotion improves the person's readiness to engage in various activities and self-directed learning. Manuscript profile

Based on the transdiagnostic approach, various variables have been introduced and found, however, their relationships and interactions are still questionable. The four important and effective transdiagnostic factors introduced in researches are emotion regulation, experiential avoidance, intolerance of uncertainty, and self-compassion. The aim of the present study was to investigate the mediating role of experiential avoidance and intolerance of uncertainty in the relationship between self-compassion, and emotion regulation difficulties in students. This research was in the form of modeling of various correlation methods. For this purpose, 405 students of Shiraz University present in the second semester of 2018-2019 year were enrolled by multistage cluster random sampling. Participants, then, completed the Short Form of Self-Compassion Scale (SCS-SF), the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire–II (AAQ-II), the Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale (IUS), and the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS). Data analysis was performed by structural equation modeling, using AMOS software. The path analysis method showed that self-compassion predicted emotion regulation both directly and indirectly through intolerance of uncertainty and experiential avoidance. Therefore, it can be concluded that self-compassion enables individuals for confrontation to their experience and enhance uncertainty tolerance to help them manage their emotions. Accordingly it is important to pay attention to the changes of these two variables in self-compassion-based interventions to regulate and manage emotions. Manuscript profile

The research method was descriptive-correlational and the statistical population was Iranian women of menstrual age in 2021, from which 287 people were selected. The research tools were demographic information form, difficulty in emotion regulation scale and premenstrual symptoms screening tool. Premenstrual dysphoric disorder were found to be higher than premenstrual syndrome, and most women considered menstruation to be normal for normal health. Symptoms were also unchanged during the Covid 19 Pandemic in most women. The highest frequency of severe premenstrual symptoms was related to fatigue/ lack of energy and the lowest frequency was related to insomnia. Based on regression analysis, difficulty in emotion regulation explained 16% of the changes in premenstrual symptoms and dimensions of difficulties engaging in goal-directed behaviors and lack of emotional clarity together explained 18% of the changes. Therefore, considering the predictive role of emotion regulation, designing interventions to regulate women's emotion may be able to reduce premenstrual symptoms. Manuscript profile

Abstract: The aim of this study was to inves-tigate the effect of semantic relevance and emotional valence on associative word recogni-tion. To do so, single design with a post-test was used. The population consisted of all students in Semnan University in 2013. Participants were 80 undergraduate students (43 males and 37 females) from the two faculties of psychology and education, and engineering of Semnan Univer-sity, who were chosen via conventionce method. By making use of SuperLab software, partici-pants completed a computer test that offered pairs of words and also Wechsler Memory Scale-Revised (WMS-R). Analysis of covari-ance of repeated measurements was used. Findings indicated the effect of semantic rele-vance and emotional valence on associative words recognition (F=7/64, P<0/001). Whereas pairs of neutral words with semantic relation were presented, the highest recognition was ob- served, pairs of emotional words with no seman-tic relation brought about lowest recognition rate. The results showed that the semantic rela-tionship between pairs of words, compared to the emotional valence of them (positive or ne-gative), had a greater impact on recognition. Manuscript profile

Abstract Hope and self-efficacy might play a constructive and important role in the sub-stance abuse recovery process and prevention of repeated lapses in the process of therapy. This research has been conducted with the aim of the examination of such a role by comparing hope and self-efficacy of addicts in mainten-ance methadone therapy who were without lapses and those with repeated lapses. This re- search was a causal-comparative design study. The population of the research consisted of all the addicts referred to the maintenance metha- done therapy centers of Khorramabad city in the first half of 1394 (2015). For this purpose, one group of 40 patients with repeated lapses and another group of 40 patients without lap-ses were selected by convenience sampling. They were asked to fill Hope and Self-Effi- cacy Questionnaires. Results of analysis of variance indicated that although the scores of hope were high in these two groups, there was no significant difference between them in this variable, and they were significantly different only in self-efficacy. It could be concluded that, in order to gain positive and maintaining therapeutic outcomes, in addition to high levels of hope, high levels of self-efficacy are also necessary. Manuscript profile

The present research has been conducted with the purpose of examining the efficacy of integrated model of self regulation-attachment couple therapy on dysfunctional impulsivity and difficulties in emotion regulation of couples. This study was a quasi-experimental research that had a pretest-posttest design with a control group. Among the couples referring to the councelling centers of Khoramabad city, 22 couples were selected and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. Before performing couple therapy sessions, Dysfunctional Impulsivity Scale (DIS) and Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS) were conducted for all the couples as pretest. Then couples in the experimental group participated in integrated model of self regulation-attachment couple therapy, but the control group did not receive treatment. After completion of the therapeutic sessions, the couples of two the groups completed those scales again as the posttest. Finally, the data was analyzed by Multivariate Analysis of Covariance. The results indicated that after the control of pretest effect, the effect of group membership on linear composition of dependent variables of dysfunctional im-pulsivity and difficulties in emotion regulation was significant. Univariate Analysis of Covariance also indicated that self regulation-attachment couple therapy had significant efficacy on decreasing dysfunctional impulsivity and difficulties in emotion regulation (except on difficulties in engaging in goal-directed behavior), compared to the control group. In conclusion, integrated model of self- regulation-attachment couple therapy can be a useful and effective treatment in decreasing dysfunctional impulsivity and difficulties in emotion regulation of couples. The present study aimed to investigate the cultural dimensions of anxiety and depression in Azeri, Kurd, and Fars (Persian) ethnic groups in Iran. In a cross sectional qualitative design, 44 individuals with emotional problems participated in an in-depth interview including perceptions of emotional disorders, their causal factors, and help seeking behaviors. Data were analyzed using conventional content analysis. Primary findings represented relative similarity between these three groups in the reported themes, which could be summarized in three main themes, namely negative emotionality, somatization, and maladaptive cognition. Perceived etiological factors for emotional disorders included more psycho-logical processes rather than social and environmental components. The extracted themes consisted of a heterogeneous set of psychological constructs, and provided further evidence to reiterate the importance of contextual variables such as culture and ethnicity in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of emotional disorders. The main purpose of this study is the investigation on the place of reason and reasoning in Damasio’s view (with the emphasis on somatic marker hypothesis) and displaying its implications for rational education. The question raised up here is: what are the implications of Damasio’s theory for rational education? The research has been carried out by using the descriptive – analytic method. The neurobiological view of Damasio by emphasis on the role of body and biological regulation (homeostasis, value principle, emotions and feelings) correlates the flourishing of reason with emotions and feelings. Damasio believes that the coherence of cognition and affectional aspects is a necessity that originates from the evolution of organisms in order to maintain and manage life. Hence the proper function of reasoning is fundamentally dependent on the real function of emotions and feelings. In this view, reason defects, rather than being cognitive in nature, are related to defects in the functions of feeling and emotion. Hence, if the emotional system functions improperly, the decision-making process and reasoning will be faced with a fundamental defect. Among the implications of the Damasio’s perspective for rational education are: a) the recognition of the profitable role of emotions in flourishing reasoning skills; b) utilizing the capacity of reasoning to modify the counseling role of emotions; and c) integration, instead of segregation, of curriculum based on the interrelation of thought-emotion education. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy on difficulties in emotional regulation and cognitive flexibility in patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder. The research method was quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test with a control group. In this study, 30 patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder syndrome were assigned to psychology clinics in Rasht in 2021 as a research sample in two experimental and control groups. Groups were assessed with questionnaires Padua obsessive-compulsive disorder by Sanavio (1988), Gratz & Roemer (2004) difficulties in emotional regulation, and Dennis & Vander Wal (2010) cognitive flexibility. After 10 sessions of 90 minutes of cognitive-behavioral therapy for the experimental group, participants again answered the research questionnaire. Findings showed that cognitive-behavioral therapy significantly reduces the difficulties in emotion regulation (rejection of emotional responses, difficulty in performing purposeful behavior, difficulty in controlling impulse, lack of emotional awareness, limited strategies, lack of Emotional state) and increased cognitive flexibility (P<0.001). Due to the problems that patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder have in emotional and cognitive dimensions, it is necessary to pay more attention to these cases in the treatment process. This study was a clinical trial with pre-test and post-test interventions with a control group. The statistical population of this study consisted of all prisoners sentenced to retaliation in Yasouj prison. Study and obtaining informed consent, 25 people were selected by convenience sampling method and participated in the project. The content of the training sessions, the emotional regulation training program based on the grass model at the prison level, was held during 4 one-hour sessions, then the collected data were analyzed using SPSS software and statistical tests. The results showed that the emotional regulation training program controlled the behavior of prisoners sentenced to retaliation in Yasouj prison, so emotion regulation and management with the necessary training, rational decision-making and control of impulsivity followed. Reassessment, problem-solving skills, effective and efficient communication, and anger management are positive and adaptive strategies that can be provided to individuals in the community through emotion regulation training, so it is suggested that these trainings be part of the skill. Living conditions, not only for prisoners but also for members of society, are commensurate with the desired age, gender and education and can play a high role in the reform and empowerment of individuals. The purpose of this research is to study the effectiveness of life skills training on cognitive emotion regulation strategies of gifted female students. Method: The present study is a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test and post-test design and follow-up with a control group. The statistical population of this study is female students studying in gifted schools in Tehran (secondary school) in the academic year of 1398-99. At first, all tenthth grade high school students (170 people) completed the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ) and among them, 32 students with lowest scores in resilient strategies were selected as a sample group, randomly divided into experimental and control groups of 16. One experimental group was given 12 sessions of training, while the control group did not receive any training. After the training sessions, post-test was performed for both experimental and control groups. Also, after a month and a half in the follow-up phase, both groups were tested. Results: Using the mixed variance analysis method, the results show that life skills training significantly caused the experimental group to receive higher average scores in acceptance strategies, refocusing, positive refocus and putting into perspective on post-test and follow-up stages compared to the pre-test stage. The study also uses non-adaptive strategies to reduce self-blame and rumination in gifted female students. Conclusion: Teaching life skills in gifted students significantly increases the use of adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies and decreases the use of non-adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies. In the last few decades, sensation-seeking has been noticed as a complex, dynamic, and multidimensional personality trait that affects risky behaviors. The present study was conducted with the aim of evaluating the psychometric properties of Zuckerman's sensation seeking scale among undergraduate students. Among the undergraduate students of Damghan city 260 people were selected by following the inclusion and exclusion criteria using a multi-stage random cluster sampling method in May 2020. Then, they responded to Zuckerman's (1971) sensation seeking, Pintrich and DeGroot (1990) self-efficacy and McCloskey and Silzo (2015) academic procrastination scales in the same order. The results showed that the four-factor structure of sensitivity to monotony, experience-seeking, adventure, and disinhibition of Zuckerman's sensation-seeking scale had a favorable fit with the data and their internal consistency reliability ranged from 0.61 for adventure to 0.78 for sensitivity. Correlation coefficients of sensation seeking subscales with self-efficacy scale to estimate divergent validity indicated non-significant and negative values in line with hypothesis confirmation. The findings of the step-by-step multiple regression also showed that the components of sensitivity to monotony and adventure could explain 27% of the variance of academic procrastination. It seems that the results of the present study provide evidence for the validity and reliability of the sensation-seeking scale as a strong tool for measuring the risky and sensation-seeking behaviors of adolescents by researchers, therapists, and counselors. The aim of present study was predicting resilience from attachment styles and cognitive emotion regulation of women who have experienced bereavement. The research method was of correlational type and its statistical population was women who experienced the bereavement of their spouse in Tehran in 1400. The research samples included 200 women with the experience of bereavement, who were selected by available sampling method, and filled the Collins and Reed Attachment Styles Questionnaire (RAAS), the Gratz and Roemer Difficulty in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS) and Connor and Davidson Resilience scale (CD- RISD). Pearson's correlation method and simultaneous multiple regression analysis were used to calculate the results. The results indicated that there is a significant negative relationship between avoidant attachment style, ambivalent style and difficulty in emotional regulation with resilience. Also, there was a significant positive relationship between secure attachment style and resilience (p<0.01). The results of simultaneous regression to predict resilience based on ambivalent and avoidant attachment style showed that ambivalent and avoidant attachment style have the power to predict resilience negatively (p<0.01). Therefore, secure attachment style can predict greater resilience in women who have experienced spousal bereavement. Manuscript profile

The descriptive research method was of the correlation type (structural equation model). The statistical population included the teenagers of Shahrood city in 2023, out of which 300 people were selected by available sampling method. The tools used in this research included risk-taking questionnaires of Iranian teenagers, emotional deficiency and psychological flexibility questionnaire. In order to analyze the research model, the structural equation model was used the findings showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between emotional inadequacy and the tendency to risky behaviors, and psychological flexibility plays a mediating role in the relationship between emotional insufficiency and the tendency to risky behaviors. Overall, the results showed that the model had a good fit. According to the obtained results, emotional inadequacy and psychological flexibility play an important role in predicting high-risk behaviors of adolescents. Emotional inadequacy and lack of psychological flexibility can increase the incidence and persistence of high-risk behaviors, including drug use, in teenagers. Therefore, the design of interventions based on improving emotional inadequacy and increasing psychological flexibility is suggested as a basis for reducing the high-risk behaviors of this group of people.</p> Manuscript profile
