The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating role of psychological empowerment in the relationship between perceived social support and the entrepreneurial spirit of undergraduate students at University of Birjand. The research method was descriptive-correlational and the statistical population consisted of 8304 undergraduate students of University of Birjand, that 340 people by using simple random sampling and based on Morgan's table were selected. The Perceptual Social Support Questionnaire (Zimet et al., 1988), Spreitzer and Mishra Psychological Empowerment Questionnaire (1995), and the Patrice and Attitude Entrepreneurship Questionnaire (1394) were used. Content validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by experts. The reliability coefficients of the questionnaires were assessed by using Cronbach's alpha coefficient and 0.99 for social support, 0.98 for entrepreneurial spirit and 0.89 for psychological empowerment. Data analysis were done at descriptive level (frequency, mean, standard deviation) and inferential level (Pearson correlation, analysis of variance, regression and structural equation modeling). The results indicated that socially supported social support predicts entrepreneurial spirit (Beta=0.19), and predicts psychological empowerment (Beta= 0.42). Psychological empowerment is also a predictor of entrepreneurial spirit (Beta= 0.42). The findings showed that psychological empowerment plays a mediating role between perceived social support and entrepreneurial spirit and the research model has a good fit. According to the research results, social protection of family, friends and people has a reverse and significant relation with the entrepreneurial spirit of individuals. So that, by increasing the amount of social support, the entrepreneurial spirit of people decreases. The results also indicate a direct and significant relationship between social support and psychological empowerment.   Manuscript profile

Hannah Ardent as a political philosopher, offering the concept of “civic virtue” and criticizing Liberal democracy, tried to constitute a way of good life in her time. In her version of civic virtue, human as a citizen should be able to secure his/her liberty and equality, in a context of dialogue and interaction. On the other hand, Amartya Sen in his human development approach, tried to moralize economy in context of Political thought by taking a critical view toward the concept of modernization and economic development. Sen, with the concept of Empowerment, introduced development as freedom, and considered Empowerment as a road to freedom. This notion takes place in an equal and moral context in which each entity of humankind, besides being an agent and capable toward others, has the possibility of dialogue and discussion in democratic situation. In this article, we propose that how the concept of civic virtue in Hannah Ardent has related to human development approach in Amartya Sen, considering human agency in the context. Based on the mentioned question, we assume that the human development approach is in line with civic virtue; which in both the essential priority is human agency. We show that from a civic viewpoint, Empowerment in the context of understanding and interaction has common conceptual and practical grounds with civic virtue as citizenship responsibility in context of dialogue and interaction. Children with Down syndrome have significant limitations in various areas of their lives. Among these, daily living skills are among the areas that are important for the success of these children in living. However, a review of research evidence suggests that effective interventions such as family-based empowerment programs, have been less studied in this area. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of family-based sensory-motor empowerment program on daily living skills of students with Down syndrome. The research design was semi-experimental (pretest-posttest with a control group). The population consisted of all students with Down syndrome in Kashan city in the year 2021-2022. The sample consisted of 30 students aged 8-12 years who were selected by convenience sampling method and assigned to two groups (15 experiment & 15 control). The tool included Wayland Social Development Test (1980). MANCOVA was used to analyze the data. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the experiment and control groups in terms of all components of daily living skills (p <0.01). As a conclusion, we can suggest the family-based sensory-motor empowerment program as a suitable intervention to improve the daily living skills of students with Down syndrome. Manuscript profile

The purpose of this study was to identify the factors which affect the self-empowerment of employees in private hospitals in Iran and it was conducted by combining qualitative (data base) and quantitative (survey) methods. The statistical population were selected for both qualitative and quantitative parts. In the qualitative phase 40 individuals were selected. From this sample, 20 individuals were managers and employees of private hospitals and 20 individuals were university professors and experts in the field of management. The data in this part was collected through interviews which continued until theoretical saturation was reached. In the quantitative phase, using Cochran's formula, 293 individuals were selected randomly. The data collected from the interviews were analyzed through the grounded theory and the data from the questionnaire were analyzed using SPSS statistical software. The findings revealed that self-empowerment could be considered as a psychological phenomenon based on individual activism. This refers to a process where a set of causal factors (individual and organizational factors or, in other words, internal and external factors), contextual factors (including cultural-social and organizational factors), intervening organizational factors (including organizational justice and organizational transformation and modernization) involve in its formation. Among the mentioned factors, the respondents offered a better evaluation of individual factors compared to organizational factors regarding the casual factors, of organizational nature compared to cultural and social factors in terms of the contextual factors, and of organization change and update compared to organizational justice in terms of intervening factors.
