In this paper, the influence of One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez on Touba and the Meaning of Night by Shahrnush Parsipur is discussed through a comparative-critical approach. In these two novels, confrontation and conflict between tradition and modernity is one of the most significant themes. So, this paper tries to depict the discursive and inter-textual connection between the above mentioned novels based on their similar content and themes. It also aims at demonstrating the way these two work confront the modern world based on the voices in the novels, explaining how the authors of these two novels, had a dialogue with modern world through a fusion of reality and illusion, physical and metaphysical world; and death and life. After a comparative study, this paper aims at revealing different aspects in these two novels regarding the discourse of tradition and modernity, according to a critical approach. It will be revealed how Parsipur’s narration suffers from the lack of integrity and coherence, in a way that “Touba and the meaning of night” doesn’t have the same firmness and complexity of One Hundred Years of Solitude. As a result, it couldn’t make proper use of elements like irony, credibility of characters and significant correlation of the events. In One Hundred Years of Solitude, the reaction to the foreigners is evidently critical, explicit, and contradictory. While, in Touba and the Meaning of Night, this reaction is chaotic, confused and somehow passive Manuscript profile

The story of "Sheikh Sanaan" is the story of the love of an oldholy man and his surrender to a girl of another faiththat finally leades to him questioning his own faith. This story is reflected in a considerable number of Persian novels, sometimes in the form of recreation and sometimes in the form of rewriting. The aim of the present study is to show, compare and analyze the rewrites and recreations of Sheikh Sanaan's mystical story in Persian novel, based on these for novels: "Yakoliaa va tanhaayi-e ou", "Savushoun", " Toubaa va manaay- e shab" and "Rood-e Raavi". This study shows that, like the story of Sheikh Sanaan, helplessness in love is evident in all four novels; but the characters’ reaction to the realization of their infatuation is different in each story. The exaltation of the old man's character also occurs through love in all four narratives. There are also differences in the fate of the female beloved after the occurrence of love. Except for" Yakoliaa va tanhaayi-e ou ", in the other three stories, the woman is also saved. In addition to the divine motive - to cause each of the characters to fall in love - other external and internal motives can be consideredfor the tendency of female characters to this process. In the novels "Yakoliaa va tanhaayi-e ou " and " Rood-e Raavi ", the woman is an evil element who deliberately puts herself in the path of an ascetic man, while in the other two novels, her lover has voluntarily set foot on the path of love. Does loneliness merely mean willing or unwilling distance from the people surrounding us? or are there any other kinds of loneliness? From a long time ago, although some philosophers and psychologists have defined loneliness and its kinds, it’s not an easy task to define a definite borderline between kinds of loneliness. These experts have suggested that some kinds of loneliness can be merged and in some cases loneliness can be either the causes or forms of loneliness occurrence, not a specific kind.In a descriptive-analytical design, this theoretical research tries to examine the kinds and causes of loneliness in ShafieiKadkani’s poems through library and documentary methods. According to the findings of the research, among the factors of interpersonal loneliness in ShafiiKodkani's poems, we can mention the separation that is the result of his first poems. From this point of view, ShafieiKadknai is a romantic poet who mainly followsthe images and themes of the poets known to have Indian Style. With regard to intrapersonal loneliness, the poet shows a tendency for seclusionwhich is resulted from his frustration from the political and social events and his nonconformity with a group of people with whom he sees no affinity. However, there is no sign of existential loneliness (i.e., a subcategory of intrapersonal loneliness) in ShafieiKadknai’s poems. Manuscript profile
