Abstract :
The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of emotion regulation training on the spiritual health of divorced women in Behshahr. The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest and a control group. The statistical population included all divorced women who referred to the "Mehr" Counseling Center in Behshahr in 2023. Considering the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 30 individuals were selected using convenience sampling and were randomly assigned to two groups of 15. Participants in both groups responded to the Spiritual Health Questionnaire before and after the intervention. After conducting 8 sessions of emotion regulation training based on Gross's (2002) emotion regulation protocol for the experimental group, data analysis was performed using SPSS version 26 and multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA). The results showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in spiritual health scales (P < 0.01), indicating an increase in spiritual health and its components (religious health and existential health) in the experimental group. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that emotion regulation training enables individuals to evaluate events, including negative ones, from a different perspective, experience negative emotions with less intensity, feel more competent in controlling their emotions, and experience less distress and tension. Consequently, emotion regulation training, through the described processes, has led to improved spiritual health among divorced women.
