The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral stress management training on quality of life and happiness in M .S patients in Shiraz. The present study is a semi-experimental type. The statistical population of this study included all patients referring to the MS Society of Shiraz in 1397. Among them, 30 women were selected by available sampling and randomly assigned to two groups of the experimental and control group. The used scales included The quality of life questionnaire for patients with MS Ayatollahy (2006) and the Oxford happiness questionnaire. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Covariate analysis). The results showed that the implementation of stress management training improves the quality of life(F=10.12, P<00.04) and happiness(F=118.84, P<0.01) in the experimental group compared to the control group. According to the results of the study, cognitive-behavioral stress management can improve the quality of life and happiness in these patients. Therefore, this training program can be used as an intervention program for the target group. Manuscript profile

The aim of the current study was to investigate the pattern of Spiritual / Religious in the patients with MS. A phenomenological approach was adopted using a qualitative method and participants were chosen none randomly on the basis of their availability. Deep interviews were carried out with fifteen MS patients and detailed information obtained from these interviews was analyzed using the Colizzi and the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) methods. Results indicated that in dealing with the spirituality/ religion issues in the pwMS five major categories were identified, and each of them consisted of several sub-categories. These major categories were labelled as follows: the definition of spirituality and religion, spiritual/ religious behaviors, the place of God in life, spiritual coping strategies, and changing in religious attitudes. On the basis of the defined clusters, five spiritual/ religion patterns were obtained including; “hope, kindness and support”, “power, wisdom and support”, “revenge, fear and anger”, “power, predestination, fear and surrender” and “doubt, feel guilty and avoidance”. Finally, it can be concluded that achieving an integrated spiritual/ religious identity has a significant impact on psychological wellbeing and improve of patients life styles. Manuscript profile

Objectives: The study aims to examine the effect of intercessory prayer on the lives of MS patients. Methods: This before - and - after study was performed on 12 MS patients admitted to a health care clinic. The patients were told about the intervention and filled in the informed consent. Every week Hands – on and remote recitation of Hamd and Towhid surahs was performed for 8 consecutive weeks. Quality of life was measured before and after the trial with Multiple Sclerosis Quality of Life (MSQOL – 54). Wilcoxon signed ranks test through SPSS version 10 was used for non – parametric statistical analysis. Results: The results showed a significant enhancement in the area of "physical health", "energy", and "physical health composite", P=0.04, P=0.02 and p= 0.02 respectively. All of them also announced subjective improvement in their motivation and mood. Conclusion: This study shows the effectiveness of intercessory prayer on some aspects of the quality of life in a chronic disease such as Multiple Sclerosis. Controlled studies with larger sample size and longer follow-up period are recommended to support this effect. Manuscript profile

Background: Although the beneficial role of exercise and antioxidants in multiple sclerosis (MS) has been reported, the interactive effect of aerobic training (AT) and royal jelly (RJ) consumption is still not well known. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of five weeks of ET and RJ consumption on glycemic indices of MS rats. Materials and Methods: In this experimental trial, 49 female Sprague-Dawley rats of EAE model weighing 180-210 gr were divided into seven groups based on their motor disability, including (1) experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), (2) sham (Sh), (3) 50 mg /kg of royal jelly consumption (RJ50), (4) 100 mg /kg of royal jelly consumption (RJ100), (5) aerobic training (AT), (6) AT+RJ50, and (7) AT+RJ100. In order to investigate the effects of EAE on the variables, 7 healthy rats were included in the healthy control group (HC). AT was performed for five weeks, four sessions per week at a speed of 11-15 m/min for 30 minutes, and RJ was injected intraperitoneally with the determined dose daily. To analyze the findings, one-way analysis of variance and Tukey's post hoc test were used (P≥0.05). Results: Insulin levels in the RJ50, RJ100, ET, ET+RJ50 and ET+RJ100 groups were significantly lower than the EAE group (P=0.01). Conclusion: It seems that aerobic training combined with royal jelly consumption has a synergistic and favorable effect on improving glycemic indices of MS rats. Manuscript profile

One of the major challenges in modern societies caused by the industrial lifestyle is inefficient evaluations when facing challenges and tensions, leading to stress. Therefore, identifying stress-inducing factors in various diseases is clinically significant. This study aimed to examine the relationship between cognitive evaluation, self-compassion, and stress habits among women with multiple sclerosis (MS). It is a cross-sectional applied study categorized as descriptive-correlational research. The participants consisted of 130 women with MS. Data analysis was performed using regression tests and SPSS software. Data were collected using the Self-Compassion Questionnaire, the standard Kooadrun stress measurement, and the Gross and John cognitive evaluation test. Variables such as stress habits, cognitive evaluation, and self-compassion significantly influenced the regression equation (p≤0.01), explaining 43.5% of the variance in stress habits. The prediction of stress habits based on a lack of self-kindness showed a direct relationship with a beta coefficient of 0.637. Additionally, self-kindness was positively related to stress habits, while self-compassion showed a negative significant relationship at the 0.01 level. Cognitive evaluation and its dimensions were also significant at the 0.05 level. It is recommended to implement compassion-based therapies, emotional management training, mindfulness exercises, relaxation techniques, identification of negative automatic thoughts, replacement with positive thoughts, and social support networks effective in stress management and emotional regulation training in cognitive evaluations to control stress among people with MS.
Manuscript profile
