Determining the Effective Factors of Meetings in the Gas Company of Isfahan Province

Abstract :
Participation in the meetings devotes a large part of the managers’ time. There are different viewpoints about necessity of the organizational meetings. It is an inevitable fact that the meetings have an important role in the organizations. It is very important to make these meetings effective in line with organizational goals. The employees and managers that are involved in such meetings are who need to have expertise. This is why that the present study was aimed to analyze the factors contributing to the effective meetings in Isfahan Gas Company. The statistical population of this study includes all of the participants in Isfahan Gas Company’s meetings. From 42 effective meetings that have been done in this company, 22 of them have been selected as statistical population with 200 participants. A sample of 127 employees has selected based on Morgan sampling table. In order to collect the research data, a self-administrated questionnaire has been employed. Both face and c ontent validity have been used for examining and confirming validity of the questionnaire. For this purpose, the academics and professional experts from University of Isfahan and Gas Company have been asked to review the questionnaire. Also Cronbachs’ Alpha Coefficient has been employed for examining reliability of the questionnaire. The coefficient of 0.89 confirmed reliability of the questionnaire. Also Kolmogorov-Smirnov test has been employed for examining normal distribution of the research data. The results of this test confirm normal distribution of the research data. Also confirmatory factor analysis has been employed for confirming research model in Amos. In order to answer the research questions, one-sample t test has been used in the SPSS. The results of this study revealed that none of the factors contributing to the effective meetings in this company were not in favorable conditions. Based on the results, planning, pre-meeting preparations, meeting guidance, a nd conclusion are the main factors that were not in favorable conditions. The results of Freedman test indicated that planning is the most important factor and conclusion is the least important one in the effective meeting from participants’ perspective. Finally, the results of analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that there is not any significant relationship between employees’ demographic characteristics and their contribution to the effective meeting.
