This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of training social problem solving strategies on self-esteem in second-grade guidance schools female students in Yazd. The research design was quasi-experimental with pre-test, post-test, and control group. (Without intervention) and pcychological placebo group (except for intervention of social problem solving strategies). The population in this study comprised of second-grade guidance school female students in Yazd who were enrolled in school year 2012-2013. The sample of this study consisted of 67 students who were selected using multistage random cluster sampling and were assigned in three groups (experimental: N=20, control: N=20, and psychological placebo: N=27). As for self- esteem a pre-test was performed in all the experimental, control and placebo groups. Social problem solving strategies training was performed on experimental group in 10 sessions 60 minutes each. Following the experimental intervention, self-esteem of the three groups were measured again. Cooper Smith Self-esteem Inventory was used for measuring self-esteem. Analysis of covariance and Bonferroni Post hoc test were used to check the results. The results showed that in the experimental group social problem solving strategies training increased adjusted mean scores of self-esteem scores (P<0.001) and mean scores on the subscales of self-esteem, including total self-esteem and educational self-esteem, were increased. But this intervention could not increase adjusted mean scores of family self-esteem and social self-esteem. According to the research findings, social problem solving strategies training increased self-esteem. So this method can be used as one of the possible ways to increase self-esteem in the critical period of puberty. Manuscript profile

Urban tourism is one of the most prevalent and lucrative types of tourism. Enjoying great cultural and historical potentials, Isfahan could be regarded as one of main destinations for urban tourism in Iran. However, while its development in terms of tourism has been defined in some legally binding documents such as "Isfahan’s 1404 Development Strategic Document" and "Isfahan Province Development Document", it has failed to be developed ideally in that regard. This study, therefore, set out to identify the most significant problems hindering the development of tourism in Isfahan. The data of this qualitative research were collected via 26 semi-structured interviews whose size was determined based on saturation effect. The participants of the study were selected through purposive sampling from among the elites, officials, and the practitioners of the tourism industry. Analyzing the data through thematic analysis, one core problem and three axial problems were identified for the Isfahan’s tourism industry. The core problem was, according to the findings, that tourism did not have priority at the macro level, and the axial problems included “inefficient management and lack of well-defined plans”, “abstinence from investment”, and “inadequate human resources”. It was also found that conflicting ideas were the dominant problem in defining the main issues in tourism. Manuscript profile

Priority setting helps maintain a clear focus, and according to the limitation of resources, it is necessary for reducing and controlling the burden of social problems better resource allocation. The present study aimed to identify and prioritize Iran's most critical social problems. This study was conducted in two steps. In the first step, a framework for classifying social problems was developed by reviewing the literature. Based on this framework, a list of social problems was prepared and categorized. In the second step, by studying the articles and books published in the field of social health, 20 experts in this field were selected and provided with the framework. Utilizing the Delphi method, the experts were asked to rank the mentioned list based on the three criteria including; prevalence, severity, and importance. Expert opinions were taken in three rounds. The country's social problems were categorized into three categories in order of priority. Although problems in society are numerous, the ten problems that have been assigned the highest priority in the present study are unemployment, corruption, income inequality, expensive housing, mistrust, poverty, reduction of productive investment, addiction, crime, and desperation. Planning for interventions and conducting social health research in the coming years should consider the aforementioned high-priority social problems that impose the most significant burden on society. The diverse social problems prioritized do not have exactly the same causes, consequences, and ways of control; therefore, identifying specific solutions to control them should be the next step in the process of social health planning.
