Abstract :
In the last decade, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) has transitioned from being a movement disorder to a complex disease involving various factors, especially in women. These factors include increased sensitivity in internal organs, changes in the interaction between the intestinal nervous system and the central nervous system, as well as psychological and social factors. There is growing evidence indicating that a history of abuse and stressful life events play a role in the development of IBS in women. Research has also linked the clustering of IBS with social learning mechanisms and genetic factors. This review study focuses on female patients with IBS and, based on the biological-psychological-social model, examines health beliefs, exercise, stressors, and environmental factors.
