Abstract :
Job burnout is one of the major challenges in work environments. The aim of this research is to examine the role of personality traits in diagnosing and distinguishing between groups with different levels of job burnout. To this end, 329 municipal employees in Tehran were selected through hierarchical sampling during the spring and summer of 2024 and were assessed using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and Kernberg's Inventory of Personality Organization (IPO) through robust discriminant analysis. The results indicated that the personality organization variables of reality testing, aggression, and moral values were significantly effective in distinguishing between resistant and highly burnt-out groups. The findings show that employees with greater deficiencies in reality testing, aggression, and moral values were more prone to job burnout. This research highlights the importance of considering Kernberg's personality organization model in adopting a more comprehensive approach in work environments, emphasizing its significant role in the development and intensification of job burnout.
